Position Purpose:
The Planner/Grant Writer facilitates research, development, review, writing, and editing of applications for grants.
They conduct research for potential funding sources, maintain databases, and work in collaboration with staff in the development of grant applications.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Works with staff in developing and transforming ideas into a grant proposal.
Interacts with tribal entities in grant-funding activities.
Participates in meetings and discussions in which decisions affecting grant program applications and follow-through are made.
Ensures that the Tribe has reasonably up-to-date needs assessment data to help guide the Business Committee, Tribal Administration, and Program Managers to design appropriate strategic responses to meet the needs of the membership and the community.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of particular areas involved in identifying and soliciting grants and collaborates with various internal departments.
Monitors Notices of Funding Availability (NOFAs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), the Federal Register, and other notifications of public and private sector resources available to meet the high-priority needs of the tribe.
Responds to notifications and inquiries received from the various Programs and share information regarding resource availability to appropriate staff.
Conducts research on potential funding sources using the library and electronic research and compiles the required specific data that is used for each grant application.
Identify related goals between programs and departments that will both facilitate the tribe's strategic plan and be more competitive when reviewed by funding agencies.
Prepares grant applications and reviews and edits them for accuracy, completeness and clarity, and adherence to the grantor's guidelines.
Respond to correspondence and requests for reports or other information as required.
Review contracts, agreements, and other documents, as they relate to grant funding applications.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven track record of acquiring grants and other financial resources for Tribal entities preferred.
Proven ability to research.
Possess knowledge of the Constitution of the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, as well as other enacted Acts and Codes.
Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive material/information with discretion.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as people skills.
Proficiency with computers and programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree.
Must be a Certified Grant Writer or willing to obtain certification.
